ST. STEPHEN’S SCOUTS.
THE ANNUAL CAMP. BOYS AT LEDDY’S CROSSING. Somo of the Scouts of the St, Stephen’s group entered camp at Leddy’s Crossing from January 18 until last Saturday, when they trekked home. Although the weather was not as good as could be expected:, the boys enjoyed their sojourn under canvas very much. Hikes and trips of exploration were held every other day, while swimming took up its fair share of time. The boys, nearly all of whom are new to camping, soon learned to cook for themselves, and to make themselves as comfortable as circumstances would allow. The camp was arranged in a roughly semi-circular form, with the flagpole and campfire-circle in the centre. Railings and gates were erected as well 1 as numerous gadgets. A patrol competition/was won by the Cuckoo .Patrol. The whole camp came into Ashburton to attend the memorial service for King George V. During the two camps held oyer the holidays, Scouts have been examined for their Cook’s Badge. Those who have won these badges are:— Scouts H. Johnston, D. Smith, J. McCallum, R. Bryan, C. Sparrow. Patrol Second J. Connor. The troop will reopen to-day. It is hoped that this year will be as successful as preceding years.
