CREW OBTAINED.
WANGAN'ELLA TO SAIL ON THURSDAY. (United Press Association—Copyright.) SYDNEY, February 3. Huddart Parkers announce that a full crew has been obtained for the Wanganella, which sails for Wellington and Milford Sound on Thursday. MILITANT SECRETARY. MR KEENAN ELECTED. 4 SYDNEY, February 3. Mr J. Keenan has been elected secretary of the* Seamen’s Union. He will take over the Federal office of the union from Mr Jacob Johnson this week. Mr J. Keenan is the leader of the more militant element among the seamen. Mr Jacob Johnson, who was virtually deposed by Mr Keenan from the general secretaryship of the union, made many efforts to solve the dispute between the seamen and the ship owners which caused the present strike, his latest effort being to reorganise the union with the more moderate men as a nucleus. A few days ago he said that he was preparing to hand over to his successor, “his tattered and torn army and his bankrupt estate.”
