POULTRY PRODUCERS.
ASHBURTON BRANCH. A meeting of -the committee of the Ashburton Branch of the Now Zealand Poultry Producers’ Federation was held in Mr Fnrby’s rooms. Mr Penrose presided, and the following members of the committee were present:—Mrs McIntyde, Messrs Ewan, Suttie, J llley and Mclntyre A number of circular letters from the Federation Executive were dealt with, viz.:. The census of poultry, which will be taken this year ; the chilling and preserving of eggs (which provides that all eggs being placed in cool stores, must he stamped “chilled” bejfore being placed in cool store. This regulation lias now been put in force by an Order-in-Council, which will prevent chilled eggs being put on the market in the winter months and sold as fresh eggs). A letter received from the Poultry Board stated that it had now appointed inspectors to deal with defaulters in the registration of poultry runs, and also that the Ashburton County list shows a large decrease in registrations this year.
This being the final meeting of the present committee, it was agreed to hold the annual meeting on January 25, when it is hoped that all interested in poultry will attend, and hear what the Federation is doing for the welfare of the poultry industry.
