BARON FORSTER (United Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 10.10 a.m.) LONDON, January 15. Baron Forster, who was GovernorGeneral of Australia from 1920 to 1925, died following an operation in a nursing home in London. Henry William Forster, first bar en Forster, was Conservative M.P. for Sevenoaks, Kent, from 1892 to 1919. He was Lord Commissioner of the Treasury from 1902 to 1905, and Financial Secretary to the War Office from 1915 to 1919. He was a member of the Army Council. He was created baron in 1919. O'Neill, the cross-coun-try rider, who was prominent on the turf in Australia and New Zealand, died at Launceston after a long illness, following rheumatism' and the effects of many falls Clarence O'Neill was a well-known cross-country rider, of Hawke's Bay, for many years. MR PHILIP NEWBURY. FAMOUS NEW ZEALAND TENOR. NEW YORK, January 14. Mr Philip Newbury, formerly a famous tenor, died yesterday, only a fortnight after the death of his Wife, Madame Emily Spada. Mr Newbury and Madame Spada, who were world-famous 30 years ago as concert singers, were living virtually destitute in a small flat in Brooklyn. For many years illness had kept them both from following their profession.
