Sir Cecil Leys, of-Auckland,,who is returning by the Narkurida from a tour of America, Britain, Japan; China, and India, said he could notice no great encroachment' made by radio on the newspapers' province, ~Bot]i, had a definite function ,fpr which they should cooperate. He had noticed, a marked advance in English newspapers from five vears ago. The -popular, press was outdoing the American; newspapers m the matter'of headings : and- display, but it tended.to seize upon sensational incidents, and thus was not in any sense as comprehensive as the Australian and New Zealand; newspapers.
