WAR LOST TO ITALIANS.
OPINION OF GERMAN PRESS. UNPRECEDENTED PROBLEMS. (Received This Day, 1.10 p.m.) BERLIN, January 15. The press echoes the General Staff's view that Signor Mussolini has lost the war. The "Frankfurter Zeitung" cites the unprecedented problems facing the Italian command, and declares that time works for the Abyssinians. Marshal Badoglio finds' endangered the territory which he believed he had conquered. The Italian network of roads is a graveyard for tanks and motor vehicles and the provisioning of the new divisions will add to Marshal Badoglio's difficulties.
BOMBS AND MACHINE GUNS. ITALIAN PLANES ACTIVE, (Received This Day, 10.50" a.m.) DESSYE, Jan. 15. More Italian reconnaissance pianos flew over Dessye, apparently photographing the population. The planes returned northwards, and bombed and machine-gunned Ambabirouta. NEITHER OCCUPIED OR BOMBED. ITALIANS DENY REPORT. (Received This Day, 9.55 a.m.) ROME, January 15. It is officially denied that Sokota was ever occupied, evacuated or bombed. CONDUCT OF THE WAR. DENMARK URGES INVESTIGATION. (Received This Day, 10.50 a.m.) PARIS, Jan. 16. Denmark is reported to be proposing to the League Council the appointment of a commission to inquire into the conduct of the Italo-Abyssinian Avar, stipulating that the investigation does not extend to search for a settlement. BOMBING OF AMBULANCE. VIGOROUS PROTEST BY SWEDEN. STOCKHOLM, January 14. The Government has transmitted to Rome a vigorous Note of protest in connection with the bombing of the Swedish ambulance at Dolo, urging speedy investigation and punishment of the culprits and! reserving the right to claim compensation.
