PROMPT RESCUE.
MAN FALLS INTO HARBOUR. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, January 14. A prompt rescue was effected by the mate of the furry .steamer Takapuna when a, middle-aged man, alter disembarking from the ferry at the Bayswater wharf, slipped in the wet surface and fell into the harbour. Although he suffered from shock and cramp, the man was not injured, and wont homo after being examined by a doctor. The ferry was berthing when the accident occurred, and there was little space between it and the wharf. The man, who fell about 15 feet to the water was fortunate not to be crushed. He was wearing an overcoat, and quickly reappeared, on the surface. His fall was heard by the mate, who Mas able to drag him aboard without difficulty. The shock and cram]) in the legs resulted in the man being temporarily unable to walk. He was carried ashore and placed in a motor-car, in whicji he was taken to a doctor.
