NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIPS. RINK SECTION PLAY ENDED. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The sectional play in- the New Zealand bowling championships was ended yesterday afternoon, when the last round in the rinks competition 'was played. A total of 37 rink's from the 13 sections qualified for post'section play, which will begin to-day on five greens St. Albans, Barrington, United, Elmwood and Edgeware. For all post-sectional play, game.s in the links championship will take precedence, and games in the singles and pairs competitions will be played as men are available. There were few names missing from the list of those who qualified of rinks which had been expected to go on to post-sectional play, and in this respect the rinks sectional rounds did not provide many surprises, although defeats in individual rounds Tiad often been most unexpected. Of the 37 teams left in, only two were unbeaten in all the eight games—the Dunedin rink, skipped by W. Anderson, which had been playing exceptionally well, and the Onehunga rink, with F. Livingstone as skip, which had not looked like losing a game in the eight played. Six rinks had one loss, and the remaining 28 qualified by having six wins. Actually the number of wins in sectional play will make no difference to post-sectional play, because every rink eligible begins with two lives'. The games will be. played on the automatic two-life system, such as prevailed for the singles games. . Those who qualified are as follow:
