HOSPITAL APPOINTMENT.
Sir,— "Why did the Board put people to the trouble of applying for the position of engineer-laundryman when they knew perfectly well that the man who Avas on the premises would get the job? Why Avas the man not appointed without putting a number of other men to a lot of bother for nothing? APPLICANT. [Tt is obligatory under the Hospital Boards Act for the Board to advertise vacancies on the executive staff in all neAvspapers circulating in the district in which the Board is situated and in all the main centre neAvspapeis. In the present case the vacancy occurred betAveen meetings of the Board, and as it A\-as a case of urgency to have the position filled, the advertisements Avere inserted at once on the authority of the chairman.
