DAIRY MARKETING
BOARD AND CABINET CONFER.
"NO WIDE CAP BETWEEN OPINIONS. 9 (Per Press Association). ~ WELLINGTON 1 , January 14. "There is no wide gap between the opinions of the Dairy Board and those of the Government as to the marketing of dairy products in New Zealand and overseas," said the Prime Minister (the Hon. M. J. Savage) last evening at the conclusion of a Cabinet meeting. "Indeed, both the Government and the Board have the same objective, and that is simply to secure the best possible results for the producers and the country as a whole." The Prime. Minister explained that members of the Board and Ministers had held a conference in the morning, when there Mas a general discussion over the whole question of marketing; but no decisions were made. "I propose," continued Mr Savage, "to 'ijnvite several representatives of the Board to meet some members of the Government, to attack the details of a marketing scheme. It is merely a question of arriving at a common policy." Asked Avhether there was any conflict of opinion or outstanding difficulty about the Government's projected policy of guaranteed prices and the local marketing of dairy produce, tho Prime Minister said he could see no difficulty in the way. "We have promised to provide a guaranteed economic price for farmers' services, and also to make provision for selling the surplus overseas,'" Mr Savage added. "I do not see that there is any conflict in that. It really is a question of devising a practical scheme, and obtaining the best possible machinery for putting it into effect."
