SOUTH ISLAND TOURNAMENT.
THE HANDICAP SINGLES FINAL
In the final of the second section of the handicap doubles at the South Island croquet tournament at Timaru on Saturday, Mrs W. McLennan beat Mrs Foote, 26-20. LEESTON BEATS METHiVEN. At Leeston, a friendly croquet match was played between teams representing the Methven and Leeston Clubs, resulting in a win for the home team by 201 to 189. . Scores (Methven names given first): Doubles—Mesdames Duff and Newman 26, Mesdames Jones and Power 17 ; Mesdames Owens and Hawkhead 26, Mesdames Jackman and Clausen 17 ; Mesdames Callaghan and Stone 8, Mesdames Ormandy and Woodard 26. Singles—Mrs Newman 26, Mrs Jones 21; Mrs Duff 11, Mrs Power 26; Mrs Owens 26, Mrs Jackman 23; Mrs Hawkhead 26, Mrs Clausen 19; Mrs Callaghan 18, Mrs Ormandy 26; Mrs Stone 22, Mrs Woodard 26. NORTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIP. NAPIER, Jan. 12. In North Island croquet championship doubles, M. P. Stratton and Mrs Watkins beat A. G. F. Ross and Mrs Tiffen 26-13.
