WOMAN BURNED TO DEATH.

A BODY RECOVERED FROM DEBRIS.

(Per Press Association). DUNEtttN, Jan. 10. Margaret Clancy, aged 62, of Ranfurly, was bnrnecl to death in her house at 8. o'clock this morning. She resided with her sister in a wooden house, and had been a partial invalid for some time. It is thought that alter her sister had left the house to attend to the poultry outside she must have tried to get out ot bed, and in doing so upset an oiijamp. When neighbours discovered that a fire had broken out in the house, they rushed to the assistance of the sisters, but upon arrival found 'that the room in which the invalid was last seen was in names. It was impossible to enter the house, which was soon gutted. The remains of the body were recovered from the debris. BOY SERIOUSLY WOUNDED. WANGANUI, Jan. 10. With a bullet wound in his head, Wairi Bailey, a Maori boy, aged 10, was admitted to the Wanganui. Hospital this afternoon in a serious condition. It is reported that Bailey and two other youths went _ shooting at Kukuta, six miles from city, with a .22 calibre rifle, and according to the story of one of the lads, Bailey discharged the weapon at a piece of iron, with the result that the bullet bounced back and penetrated his cheek just below the eye and lodged in the forehead.
