BAIL REFUSED

LAMBTON QUAY ASSAULT. ACCUSED MAN REMANDEp. DETECTIVES' LONG VIGIL. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, This Day. A long vigil by detectives was rewarded last evening by the arrest ot a man allegedly connected with the knife or razor assault on Lambton Quay yesterday. , , * James Logie, alias Kelly, a labourer, a«ed 33, was charged to-day with having wounded Charles Crooke, with intent to do grievous bodily harm. The police asked for a remand, and accused asked for bail. Opposing bail, Detective-Sergeant Revell said his reason was that there was trouble between the two men, and he thought that in his own interests Kelly should be confined in the meantime. In addition, the assault was rather serious. It was done with a knife, and there was just the possibility it might be repeated if the men met again. Bail was refused.
