DENTIST DROWNED.
FATALITY AT RAROTONGA. (United Press Association —Copyright.) RAROTONGA, January 7. Charles Owen Hodgins, a dentist here, was drowned while bathing off the Avarua wharf 3'esterday. A heavy sea was running, and there was a considerable undertow. The hurricane last February altered the contour of the coast near the harbour, and now in heavy seas there is a very strong current out to sea. The inquest lias not yet been held, but the theory is that the victim was overcome by the strength oi the seas, and collapsed through heart failure. Efforts were made to resuscitate Hodgins, but without avail. The funeral this morning was largely attended by both Europeans and Maoris. Hodgins leaves a wife and young family.
