THE FARM PLAN.

VARIED REACTIONS IN AMERICA. EFFIGIES OF JUDGES HANGED. (United Press Association— Copyright.) NEW YORK, Jan. 7. A variety of interesting repercussions from the Supreme Court decision invalidating the Agricultural Adjustment Administration occurred - nmht, the most picturesque being the hanging of effigies of the justices who outlawed the act, on the campus ot lowa State College, apparently showing the resentment of the agricultural areas of the Middle West. Commodity markets reacted almost inexplicably to the . decision. Hog prices rose 70 cents per cwt. overnight, whereas cotton dropped two dollars a bale, vet both commodities are equally affected by the processing tax and production control. In a confused stock market shares of concerns making farm implements lost several points. Mr H. A. Wallace (Secretary for Agriculture) in the meantime ordered all Agricultural Adjustment Administration activities to be stopped, and conferences seeking substitutes lor the administration continued. In Washington, at the regular press conference to-day, Mr Roosevelt declined to reveal any plans to meet the agricultural crisis except to Confirm the report that the appropriation of about 250,000,0000 dollars would be requested from Congress to pay producers’ contracts already signed. A conference of farm leadeis from every section of the nation will be held here at the week-end, when Mr Wallace will ask for co-operation in drafting a new programme. The drop in cotton compared with the increases in other commodities is explained by leaders in the Agricultural Adjustment Administration a? being caused by tlie desperate situation which the crop is facing. Reports indicate that large planters are preparing to recultivate the acreage withdrawn under the Agricultural Adjustment Administration, with the possibility that the crop'this year will reach' 15,500,000 bales.
