FARMERS’ TOUR

ENGLISH PARTY’S ITINERARY. TWELVE DAYS IN THIS ISLAND. (Special to the “Guardian.”) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The tour of New Zealand on a trip round the world by Empire primary producers, organised by the British National Union, will occupy just 32 days, of which 12 days are allowed to the South Island. No arrangement has been made for the party to visit Nelson, Marlborough, the West Coast, or North Canterbury, unless the members are expected, to use the two days they are in Christchurch for these visits. The visit, however, is not merely a. sight-seeing trip, as the members of the party are interested in farming in New Zealand, and time will be spent in visiting the main agricultural and pastoral areas. The full tour will occupy 16 weeks, starting from England on January 10 and returning on May 2, during which time the party will call in at Gibraltar, Marseilles, Port Said, Aden, Bombay, Colombo, and Australian ports, before arriving at Auckland on 1' ebruary 28. The New Zealand itinerary, after leaving Auckland, takes the paity through to Hamilton and the Waitomo Caves, and then to Taranaki. A day will be spent at New Plymouth before the tourists go on to Wanganui by way of Hawera. Wanganui and Palmerston North will be visited foi a day each before the party crosses eastward through the Manawatu Gorge to Masterton and thence to V ellmgton. „ Lyttelton, the first part of the South Island to be visited, will be reached on the morning of March 12. That and the following day will be spent in -and around Christchurch, the visitors leaving by the first express on March 14 for Invercargill. Tvco days will be spent in Southland before the party leaves for Queenstown, to put in about two days at the lakes. After a day of travelling another two days will be spent at Dunedin, and on March 23 the visitors will return straight through to Wellington. Hawke’s Bay and the sights of Rotorua will occupy the 'tourists until they return to Auckland on March 30 to catch the Niagara the following day for Suva. Honolulu, Canada and England.
