THE WEATHER.
UNSETTLED CONDITIONS. The weather in Ashburton to-day was unsettled, light showers of rain falling from time to time. One point was recorded before 9 a.m. A strong southeasterly wind, veering to the east, was blowing. The temperature was cool. The day cleared somewhat later, although the sky remained cloudy. Conditions were warmer in the afternoon. A maximum temperature of 62.8 degrees was recorded yesterday, and a minimum of 51.8 last night. The barometric pressure at 9 o'clock this morning was 29.81 inches, compared with 29.70 inches yesterday morning. TO-DAY'S FORECAST. (Per Press Ansociation.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: — General inference: Yesterday's depression has made little progress eastward. Pressure has risen at the Chatham Islands, but is still low to the west of the North Island. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day,' issued the following statement regarding the weather: — Moderate to strong north-east to northerly winds. Weather cloudy to overcast, and rain developing; temperature mild. Seas rather rough.to rough.
