SWIMMING.
WELLINGTON HARBOUR CROSSED WELLINGTON, This Day. After waiting for suitable conditions, C. E. Cla ridge yesterday succeeded in swimming the Wellington Harbour for the second time. Claridge had intended to endeavour to beat his previous time of three hours 25 minutes, but conditions in the middle of the harbour were unfavourable, and he abandoned the attempt on the time, taking the latter stages easily. He finished the distance, about seyen miles, in 4 hours 14 minutes.
