THE WEATHER.
DULL AND COOL TO-DAY. The day in Ashburton was dull and cool, the sky being heavily clouded. A strong north-easterly wind was blowing. The week-end was fine. The maximum temperature in the shade yesterday was 70.7 degrees, compared with GQ.o on Saturday. The minimum last night was 54 degrees, compared with 53.6 on Saturday night. The barometer is falling, reaching 29.70 inches at 9 o'clock this morning, compared with 29.99 inches yesterday morning.
TO-DAY'S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: — General inference: A depression is advancing on to New Zealand. Pressure has risen over eastern Australia. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — Light to fresh north-easterly to northerly winds. Weather cloudy to overcast*, and rain developing. Temperatures warm. Seas slight to moderate.
