ABATTOIR RETURNS
ASHBURTON FIGURES FOR 1935. *' A DECREASE OF 200 HEAD. DETAILS OF THE KILLINGS. Stock slaughtered at the Ashburton municipal abattoirs in 1935 were less than the number killed in 1934 by 200. The total last year was 12,996, with 21 carcases condemned, compared with 13,916 and 46 condemned in 1934, 13,072 and 36 condemned in 1933, 14,610 and 36 condemned] in 1932, 15,311 and 32 condemned in 1931, 12,235. and 22 condemned in 1930, 12,304 and 21 condemned in 1929, and 12,650 and 23 condemned in 1928. Cattle, sheep, lambs and pigs killed show a decrease compared with 1934, but there was an increase in the number of calves slaughtered. The following are details of the killings in 1935, 1934 and 1933:
