The Canterbury iPark Trotting Club’s summer meeting was concluded at Addington yesterday, and the attendance was good for what is generally regarded as an “off” day. The totalisator staff handled £22,301 10s, against £18,152 10s on the corresponding day last year, making a total for the meeting of £48,368, as compared with £36,326 10s invested 12 months ago, an increase of £12,041 10s for the two> days’ racing. CUDDLE WINS CLIFFORD PLATE. AUCKLAND, January 2. The Auckland Racing Club’s summer meeting concluded at Ellerslie to-day in glorious weather. The track was in excellent order, and there was a large attendance. The totalisator handled £42,329, against £32,625 for the corresponding day last year, an increase of £9704. The total for the meeting was £208,854, compared with £186,983 10s last year, an increase of £21,960 10s. The Marton Jockey Club’s summer meeting concluded to-day in perfect weatlier. Too attendance was excellent. Most interest was taken in the Duke of Gloucester Cup, competed lor ior the first time in New Zealand, the winner being Hoyal Papa, owned by P. Holman, of bedding, and ridden by W. Duncan. The tropfiy was presented by Mr Janies McLeod (president of the Racing Conference), and tlie Hon. W. Nash also spoke. The totalisator handled £10,497, compared with £6554 on the second day in 1934. J here was no second day last year because of the rain. The total for tne meeting was £23,828, against £18,681 10s in 1934. SAPLING STAKES IN PERTH. PERTH, January 2. At the Western Australian Turf Club’s meeting the following was the result of the Sapling Stakes; for two-vear-olds— Winbyie (Hutchinson) 1, Barfino (Meyers) 2, Maikai 8.5 (Morley) 3. Thirteen started. Won by a head; two lengths and a half between second and third. Time, 1.3£, Winbyie is a Nightraid—Philomela filly.
