THE BRITISH POST OFFICE. (United Press Association —Copyright) LONDON, January 1. The Post Office announces that all mail posted up to the latest advertised times was delivered by Christmas Day, a remarkable achievement in view oi the serious dislocation of road and rail traffic during the period by fog. Postal orders issued totalled 26,500,000, compared with 20,000,000 last year. Withdrawals by Post Office Sayings Bank depositors during December were £1,000,000 higher, at £10,000,000 than in December, 1934, but the balance held by the bank, of £390,000,000' w y as £30,000,000 more than a year ago. The extension of the telephone system in Britain in 1935' was a notable feature of the development of the post office. In November, 2,500,000 telephones were in use. Ihe number of local calls during the year is estimated at 1,755,000,000 and trunk calls at 95 000 000. —British Official Wireless.
