(From Our Own Correspondent.) STAVELEY. The Christmas service at the Staveley Presbyterian Church was well attended, and the Sunday School children took an active part, the smaller pupils singing “Away in a Manger. Misses D. Burgess and M. Gundry recited the thirteenth chapter of Corinthians, and other classes sang Christmas hymns. The prizes for pupils attending the Staveley and the Springburn Sunday schools were presented, hv the Rev. A. A. C. Lion. Miss Boris Goldsmith, .for teachers and students, handed Mrs Lion a Christmas present, and at the close of the service a presentation was made to Mrs S. T. Goldsmith lor her years of service as organist. Motions of condolence were passed at the last, meeting of the Staveley Women’s Institute with Mrs L. Hicks and Mrs It. Pawsey in the loss of relations. A cup for competition has been given by Mesdames A. Wright and L. Hicks, and Airs A. W. Russell has given a prize for the member who has not so far won a prize. The members accepted the invitation of the president (Airs Alan Russell) to hold a picnic in her grounds next month. WILLOWBY. On the morning of Christmas Day the Rev. Robert AlcGregor was the preacher at a short service held in the Willowbv Methodist Church. Favourite Christmas hymns were sung, and the Aliases Lill sang the duet, “Silent Night, Holy Night.” Miss Alarjory Lill was organist. A band of 17 singers went carolling in the district at the conclusion of the service on Sunday evening. Miss Hazel Lill and Mr Hubert Hayman are attending a summer school in Timaru for senior members and leaders, under the auspices of the New Zealand Methodist Y 7 oung Women’s and Young Aden’s Bible Class Alovements.
