HIGH TEMPERATURES CONTINUE The unusually high temperatures continued in Ashburton yesterday, when a maximum of 88 decrees was recorded in the shade. After a dull night, with a minimum tempei'ature of 57.6 degrees, to-day dawned cloudy, but soon cleared, and the sun shone from a cloudless sky. A northeasterly breeze was blowing. The barometer had risen slightly at 9 o’clock this morning, standing at 30.09 inches. The shade temperature at 2 p.m. was 82 degrees. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. ' (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: General inference: There has been little change in the situation. Pressure is high over the New .Zealand area, but relatively low over the Tasman Sea. A series of slight disturbances advancing from the west has been affecting the western and southern districts. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — Light to moderate and variable winds, with north-easterlies or northerlies predominating. Weather fair and warm. Seas slight or moderate.
