CONDITIONS IN BRITAIN. SUDDEN CHANGE IN WEATHER. RAIN DISPELS FOG AND SNOW. (United Press Association— Copyright.) LONDON, Dec. 24. A sudden change in the weather, dispersing the heavy fogs that have covered the country!, and blinking rain and warmer temperatures, dispelled hopes of a white Christmas The Duke and Duchess of Kent and the Prince of Wales travelled separately to join the Royal party at Sandringham. Crowds .in Liverpool Street cheered the Duke and Duchess of Kent and were delighted when the nurse lifted up the babv Prince Edward at the carriage window. The Duke and Duchess of York did not attend the party as it was considered unwise for the Duchess to travel until she has fully recovered from influenza . LETTERS IN MILLIONS. POST OFFICE WORK FOR 70,000. LONDON, December 23. For the boom season of the Post Office 70,000 extras have been engaged to help handle 12,000,000 letters and 600,000 parcels a day. Christmas mail traffic has been four times as great as normal traffic, and air mails the heaviest ever dispatched from this country There are indications that the increase over last year’s traffic will be about 5 per cent., but the figures are not yet complete.
