THE WEATHER.
HOTTEST DAY THIS SUMMER. Christmas Day was the hottest day this summer, and the hottest Christmas Day for some years, the maximum shade temperature being 89.1 degrees, compared with 85.4 degrees on Christmas Day last year. The hottest day previously this year was December 12, while on' Christmas Eve the temperature reached! 85.1 degrees. With a. minimum temperature of 62.2 degrees, last night was also the warmest this summer, the next warmest being on Cnristmas Eve, when the lowest temperature was 62 degrees. The hot' weather continued to-day, the sun shining from a slightly cloudy sky, though a north-easterly breeze tempered the heat. The barometer shows little movement, pressure being 29.99 inches at 9 o’clock this morning, compared with 29.91 yesterday morning. The shade temperature at 2 p.m. was 88.2 degrees.
