NEW PROPOSAL IN BRITAIN. GOVERNMENT LEGISLATION. (United Press Association— Copyright) LONDON, December^. The text of the Government’s will to extend unemployment insurance to agricultural workers has been published. About 750,000 persons, including 50,000 women, are involved in the scheme, which is designed to deal with an unemployment rate of about t .5 per cent. The bill follows the main lines of the recommendations of the Unemployment Insurance Committee, except that it provides a rather higher rate of contribution, and a benefit of 14s for adult male workers instead of the 12s suggested by the committee. > The employer, the employed, and the State will each contribute 4*d a week to the scheme, which is financially self-contained and will bear no liabilities in respect of general unemployment.—British Official Wireless.
