INQUIRY FOR LAND
INVERCARGILL AUCTION. ' fPer Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, November 29. If anything were required to substantiate the indications that there is a definite inquiry for land, particularly for good land offered for bona fide sale, it was provided to-day when an auction sale was conducted in Invercargill on behalf of the executors in the estate of the late William Curran. Twelve lots, most of them close to Invercargill, were offered. Nine were sold under the hammer, two were disposed of'immediately afterwards, and only one lot, of poor country, was passed. . It was apparent that conditions are encouraging purchasers in this direction, particularly when good properties are available at prices that are not pi 0hibitive. It must be many years since such a sale by public auction in Southland lias had such a satisfactory outcome. Prices generally were not high but bidding foi good land was very brisk, and for the best lots entirely satisfactory values were obtained.
