Mr C. J. Melrose, who is taking part in the search for Sir Charles Kingsford Smith and Mr T. Pethybridge, who was himself overdue at Victoria Point, has been found safe. There is no news of Sir Charles Kingsford Smith, and very faint hope is now entertained.

SEVERE STORMS IN THE BAY. (Received This Day, 8.35 a.m.) LONDON, November 12. “I am continuing the search till I know it is hopeless,” Air-Commodore Smith told the Ala Lumpur correspondent of “The Times”.” “Qur gravest fear is that Sir'Charles 'Kingsford Smith is down in the jungle in either Burma or Malaya, ill which case aerial search will he most difficult. If he is down at sea, the Lady Southern Cross, with luck, could ho floating now.” The flying-boats that were searching the Bay of* Bengal encountered severe storms.

NO TRACE YET DISCOVERED. SINGAPORE, November 12. The Quantas air liner left this morning, piloted by “Scotty” Allen, but later returned to. Alor Star owing to storms. It is remaining there for the night, before attempting to reach Merqui to join in the search for Sir Charles Kingsford Smith to-morrow. The flying-boats and Vildebeeste ’planes report that they have met with no success in the search.

ROUND-THE-WORLD RACE PLANS C. W. A. SCOTT AS PARTNER. (Received This (Day, 10.10 a.m.) LONDON, November 12. The Associated Press understands that Sir Charles Kingsford Smith before his departure had almost completed plans to partner C. W. A. Scott in the round-the-world race in 1936.
