Mr King, of New York, foreign sales representative of the Intertional Harvester Company, was a visi tor to Ashburton last evening. Miss Betty Furby, an Ashburton Girl Guide, has gained her Ranger Allround Cord, the first to be won in Ashburton. The movement has just concluded its eighth year in Ashburton.

Delegates of the Fanciers’ Society, who will attend the annual meeting of the New Zealand Kennel Club in Christchurch to-morrow are Messrs G. H. Nicoll and A. Clark.

Messrs G. H. B. lill (president), A. N. Grigg '(vice-president) and R. J. Martin will represent the Ashburton Agricultural and Pastdral Association at the meeting of the central district council of the Royal: Agricultural Society of New Zealand, to be held at Christchurch to-morrow.

New appointments are announced by Sir James Grose (general manager of the National Bank of New Zealand). Mr R. D. MacDonald, manager of the Balclutha branch, will retire on pension on December 2 after 38 years’ service. He will he succeeded by Mr L. R. McDonald, at present manager of the Cromwell branch. „ Mr T. "M. Ellis, manager of the Hauera branch, will transfer to Cromwell, and will be succeeded by Mr L. V. Smith, accountant at Newton, Auckland.Mr S. B. Hayward, of The general manager’s office, Wellington, has been appointed accountant at the Newton branch.

The Hon. Sir Frederick H, Tout, M.L.C., members of Principal Board (Sydney) of the A.AI.P. Society, who is visiting New Zealand in the society’s business, will spend several hours in Ashburton to-morrow, in company with Sir William Hunt, of AVel ling ton. Sir Frederick Tout is a prominent grazier, solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South AVales and a member of the Legislative Council of the State Parliament. He also represented Australia at the Ottawa Conference. Air Andrew AY. Sneddon, F.LA. (general manager of the society), is also visiting New Zealand in connection with the. society’s business.
