CONSIDERATION BY CABINET.
MELBOURNE, November 5
A special meeting of the Federal Cabinet was held to-day to consider the position of Mr W. M. Hughes (Minister for Health), who was not present. The Prime Minister said afterwards that there was no change in the situation, but a communication had been sent to Mr Hughes, who intends to make his reply in the House of Representatives, probably- to-morrow. A sensation was caused by the announcement on Saturday that the Prime Minister. (Mr J. A. Lyons) had sent a telegram to Mr Hughes, asking for his resignation from the Ministry, owing to his attitude toward sanctions, contained in a book he has just published, called “Australia and the War To-day.”
