20,000 Jobs Depend on You At least 20,000 bread-winners and their dependents obtain their livelihood directly or indirectly from the licensed trade. Those engaged in hop growing, barley growing and wine production; those employed by hotels, breweries, wine and spirits merchants; those supplying the trade with coal, bottles and glassware, barrels, printing, etc.; also an army of carriers and other transport workers. All these people lose their employment—UNLESS CONTINUANCE CONTINUES. Unemployment is costly enough and cruel enough don’t make it worse ! The statement that these people would be absorbed in other industries is a slander on the present unemployed, whom industry is unable to absorb. The position would be further aggravated by the fact that 20,000 men and women would stop earning and stop spending, thus creating still further unemployment. 20,000 JOBS DEPEND ON YOUR VOTE. “Prohibition was the most damnable thing ever introduced into the United States.” -ARCHDEACON DODSON, President Church Temperance Society of the United States.
