HIGHBANK. The monthly, meeting of the Highibank Women’s Institute was presided over by Mrs A. H. Sandrey, and theie was a good attendance of members and friends. It was decided to send letters of sympathy to the following members who have been ill: —Mesdames Campsori, Thomas, Titheridge, Freeman and Findlay. Miss Mary Quinn gave an interesting demonstration on art silk and organde work, and bad on display several pieces of this work, vliich vas much admired. On behalf of members, Miss Carr thanked Miss Quinn for her demonstration. It was arranged to hold the next arts and crafts afternoon at Mrs W. K. Wilson’s residence. A competition organised by Mrs Kneale was won by Mrs Wilson. Winners ol competitions were: —Flowers: Senior, Mrs Penney 1, Mesdames E. A. Bland and V. Mebrtens (equal) 2, Miss O. Smith 4; junior, Miss IX Rouse 1, Miss M. Paul 2, Misses L. Watson and R, Sandrey (equal) 3. Plain biscuits (three varieties): Senior, Miss Gilpin 1, Mrs Harris 2, Mrs Mebrtens 3; junior, Miss L. Watson 1, Miss R. Sandrey 2. The hostesses were Mrs Smith, Mrs M. Stewart, Mrs Thompson and Mrs Stockdill.

WILLOWBY. Miss Marjory Lill has left to attend the New Zealand Methodist \\ omen s Missionary Union conference, to he held in New* Plymouth -this week, as the representative of the Willowby Auxiliary.

WINCHMORE. A concert and dance were held in the Winchmore Hall by members of the Winchmore branch of the Women s Division of tlio Now Zoaland Fanners Union. Items were contributed by the following:—Misses McGuinness, Opie, Ede, M. Watt, Messrs Mitchell, Polkinghorn, and by Barbara Hunt, Pamela Hunt, Allan Hunt, and George Spicer. Mrs H. J. Chapman was accompaniste. Three members of the Lyndhurst Institute, Mrs P. Prebble, Mrs F. A. Scott and Miss T. Evans, gave an enjoyable playlet. The music for the dancing was played by Cook’s orchestra, with an extra by Miss M. Watt. Mr J. Shearer was master of ceremonies. .
