On arriving at Croydon, Mr H. F. Broadbent said lie left Basra 60 to 65 miles ahead of the record put up by H. L. Brookes and Catlicart-Jones for a liomeAvard flight to Britain. He Avas confident of reaching Athens non-stop, but his engine failed 20 miles out, necessitating a forced landing, in Avhieli the undercarriage of his ’plane Avas damaged. Mr Broadbent is supplying Australia House with a detailed report of the treatment he received eu route.

PROGRESS OF AUSTRALIANS.

Messrs O. Thomas and E. Maguire, the Australian airmen, have arrived hero en route to England. Messrs Thomas and Maguire took off from Darwin on October 11 for Koepang, on the first stage of a flight to England. Mr Thomas is to undergo flying-boat training in London, and Mr Maguire intends to apply for a commission in the Royal Air Force. ,
