WOMEN’S DIVISION
THE ASHBURTON BRANCH. The Ashburton branch of the Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ , Union met yesterday afternoon, the president (Mrs E. M. Begg) presiding. Mr G. T. Clarice gave a demonstration on sewing machines.
It was decided to hold the next meeting on November 29. Competitions resulted as follow Sponge sandwich, Miss M. Moore 1, Miss B. Brown 2, Mrs A. W. Penney 3; vegetable, Mrs Penney 1, Miss C. Macmillan‘2, Miss Moore 3; rhubarb, Mrs J. H. Harper 1, Miss Macmillan 2, Mrs Macmillan 3; bloom, Miss Macmillan 1, Mrs Macmillan 2, Mrs H. Lamb 3; article made from one yard of cretonne, Miss Macmillan 1, Mrs J. Hawke 2, Mrs Penney 3.
