THE DUKE OF BUCCLEUCH.

FATHER OF LADY ALICE SCOTT. (United Press Association— Copyright) (Received This Day, 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, October 18. The Duke of Buccleuch, father of Lady Alice MontagudDouglas-Scott, fiancee of the Duke of Gloucester, is dead.

FAMILY CALLED TO BEDSIDE

LONDON, October 17. It is announced to-day that the illness of the Duke of Buccleuch, father of Lady Alice Montagu DouglasScott, is giving rise to serious anxiety. The Duke is 71 years of age.

Owing to the Duke’s illness, it was arranged some weeks ago that Lady Alice would be given away at her wedding to the Duke of Gloucester on November 6, by her brother, the Earl of Dalkeith. Lady Alice Montaguo Douglas-bcott is leaving London for her father’s home on October 18. The Prince of Wales has placed his aeroplane at hei disposal. Other members of the Buccleuch family have been called home.

(Received This Day, 11.20 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Sir Alfred Livingstone Parker (Lord Mayor of Sydney) died yesterday. He will be accorded a State funeral on Monday.

MR E. E. BOOTH. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Mr E. E. Booth, one of the 1900 All Blacks, died yesterday 7 in Christchurch, at the age of 59. Mr Booth, who lived at Hampden, North Otago, came to Christchurch to see the Ranfurly Shield match between Otago and Canterbury recently 7, his state of health compelling him to travel in a bath chair. The journey, however, so affected him that he was unable to return, and a fatal illness developed. In Mr Booth’s first year in provincial football lie was chosen as one of . the All Blacks. His career in big football was short, and he represented Otago for the last time in 1907.

MR E. DE C. DRURY. Mr Ernest de Courcy Drury, who died yesterday at his residence, 17 Heivitt’s Road, Merivale, Christchurch, was tho fourth son of the late Major-General George Drury, Royal Marine Light Infantry, of Plymouth, England. Mr :D!rury came to New Zealand in 1880, and qualified as a surveyor, practising his profession at Hamilton, and subsequently at Invercargill and Christchurch, until his retirement in 1930. He married, in 1893, Miss Nellie Kathleen Sandes, a daughter of Mr Robert Fitzmaurice Sandes, of Hamilton. He is survived by- his wife, three sous, Messrs G. G. de O. Drury, of Kakamega, Kenva Colony, E. O’Brien Drury, of Westland Station, Queensland, Australia, and C. G. de C. Drury, of Ashburton, and two, daughters, ‘Mrs H. H. Tribe and Miss Joan Kathleen Drury, of Christchurch.
