ILLEGAL RAFFLES
THREE MONTHS’ IMPRISONMENT
ROGUE AND A VAGABOND. (Per Press Association.) WANGANUI, This Day. For conducting illegal raffles round hotel bars for a lamb, crayfish and peas, and on a charge of being a rogue and a vagabond, Michael Charles Ryan, aged 49, was sentenced to three month*’ imprisonment in Wellington Gaol. Accused remarked that it was not a bad feed for “a bob” and that he had a. shilling in the sweep himself and was quite sincere. The police stated that accused had collected 13s and when arrested had 7s Bd, the rest having been spent in drink. He had not procured any of the articles he was raffling.
