CONTROL OF CHURCH SCHOOLS. COMPLETE CHANGE MADE. (Special to the “ Guardian.”) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The twenty-seventh Synod of the diocese of Christchurch ended last evening. The greater part of the last three days, of Synod was taken up with the discussion of a Bill completely changing the administration of the educational work of the diocese hy dividing it among separate boards, supplanting the present diocesan board of education. This Bill passed its third reading last evening, and will come into, force on January 1, 1986. St. Margaret’s College and Craighead School, Timaru, and two diocesan girls’ secondary schools will be controlled each by its own board of governors. There will be a primary day schools’ board of control, and a council of Sunday schools and youth work. Bishop Julius Hostel, for university students, will be taken over by the Standing Committee of the diocese. The intention of the new statute is to assist in the reduction of the deficit of the present board, and to improve the quality of the educational work through a greater concentration on its several departments. t The personnel of the new ooards, elected last evening, is as follows: Primary Day Schools 7 Board, of 'Control—Miss M.
