OBITUARY
MR ERNEST V. READ. Mr Ernest Victor Read, who died at the age of 34, after a brief illness, was the youngest son of Mr and Mrs Arthur Read, of Eiffelton, and was a ’wellknown farmer in the Loweliffe district, having acquired a portion of the Longbeach. Estate seven years ago, which lie farmed successfully. He was also noted for his mechanical abilities, his well-equipped workshop being well known in the surrounding districts. He was keenly interested in boating, having fitted his own boat to travel by land and sea under its own power, and ho made several trips to sea from the Loweliffe beach. In 1929 Mr Read married Muriel, second daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Keen, of Winslow. He is
survived by his Avife and four small children.
The funeral Avas largely attended, including members of the Manchester Unity Oddfellows’ Lodge. The services at tiie residence and graveside were conducted by the Rev. D. IX McLaclilan, of Timvald, and. P.D.G.M. Bro. J. S. Donaldson. The pall-bearers Avere Bros. J. Patterson, C. Patterson, I. Read, J. Johnson, T. McKay and A. Soal.
