WOMEN’S DIVISION
MID-CANTERBURY EXECUTIVE. The Mid-Canterbury Provincial Executive of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union met yesterday afternoon. It was decided to send a letter of cheer to Mrs Rickard in her illness. Airs Begg was appointed reporter for the meeting. A report dealing with the arrange-
ments that were being made loir the visit of the Blind Institute Band to Ashburton toward the end of this month was presented by Mrs Bennett. Votes of appreciation of the manner in which the North Canterbury Executive had cared for Ashburton girls who attended the country girls’ educational week in Christchurch was passed. A letter seeking assistance in providing Christmas cheer for the lepers at the station on Alakogai Island was received and the question was left to the individual branches to deal with. A report of the proceedings at the
meeting addressed by Miss V. McMillau in the interests of the Association for Country Education library service was presented by Airs Scott, wlio was thanked. A list of rest homes available to members of the Division was received from the Dominion secretary. Ala s Bcott was appointed to judge a knitting competition. It was stated that Miss Hetty Jolinston had won a Christchurch promoted competition for a cushion, open to members in Alid and South Canterbury and that Aliss Robertson had taken second prize. 1 The housekeeping secretary reported that in the past three months, 24 women and four girls had been out foi 84 weeks, and that four women and one girl were out at present.
