FEELING REACHES FEVER PITCH
ARREST OF A CONSUL,

It is stated that the Italian troops advancing on Agame, between Adowa and Adigrat were defeated. The Italian Consul at Adowa has been arrested 1 . It is expected the Italian Minister at Addis Ababa will be handed his passport to-morrow. Anti-Italian feeling in Addis Ababa has reached fever pitch. The .Emperor, appearing on a balcony at the Palace, ■was frcnziedly cheered by the crowds, many drawing swords and revolvers.

ACCUSED OF BAD FAITH. (Received This Day, 9.ITf a.m.) ROME, October, 3. An official commuhnque announces that Italian occupied positions beyond their lines for reasons of security. It adds that the Emperor’s telegram, alleging an air bombardment oi inhabited regions, causing casualties is an old and much-abused expedient of a tendentious character, the bad faith of which is evident.
