CHATEAU MANAGER

STILL IN HIS BED. STATEMENT BY WIFE. . (Special to the “ Guardian,”) WELLINGTON, September 30. A statement that Mr R. Cobbe, manager of the Chateau Tongariro . at National Park, was still in bed and by no means recovered was made to “The Dominion” last night by Mrs Cobbe. She said she wished to make public his condition in view of the Ministerial statement that the affair of September 9 had been “greatly exaggerated.” She considers that her husband will be obliged to keep to his bed for several weeks. Mr Cobbe was admitted to the Tanramunui' Hospital on September 9 suffering from concussion and head in juries. He was removed from the hospital to a Taumarunui hotel on Monday last and will be confined to his bed for a considerable time, and a trained nurse will be in constant attendance.

Mrs Cobbs said that her husband was making very slow but satisfactory progress, hut was not able to see any visitors. It was unlikely that he would be able to resume his duties at the Chateau until about Christmas.
