The letter is as 'follows:— “I. have to state that under the law relating to trade-marks, it is open .to the owner of a trade-mark to _ ir h stitute proceedings in the New Zealand Patent Office to obtain registration of his mark, and upon this being done the application is investigated m due course and if in order the request, after advertisement in the Patent Office Journal, is allowed, and the necessary entry is made on the register. This course of procedure has been adopted in a number of cases, and the registered proprietor has thus acquired the exclusive right to the use of his mark upon or in connection with wool. “It is also open to the owners of trade-marks to take proceedings in the course for infringement or pass-ing-off and to obtain the appropriate remedy by way of damages and injunction.”
