OUTPUT IN MANAWATU. (Per Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, Sept. 25. As evidencing the tremendous growth of the dairy industry, figures computed relating to the dairy factories of the Manawatu and adjacent districts show that li butter companies last season manufactured 11,000 tons, which, valued at an average of 90s per cwt., represented £990,000. Taking the cheese factories within a radius of 50 miles of the city, the output is computed at 5936 tons, which, at 50s per cwt, represents £296,000, making a gross value in dairy produce of approximately £1,590,000.
