THE WEATHER
DULL SKIES. There was no sunshine in Ashburton to-day, a southerly wind having brought heavy rain clouds into the sky during the night. The temperatureyesterday reached a maximum of 56.8 degrees, and the lowest reading in the night was 44 degrees. The barometer stood at 30.24 inches this morning.
TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— General inference: Pressure is still high, over, and especially east of, New Zealand, while a cyclone to the north has been decreasing in extent and intensity. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: —
Winds light to moderate and variable, but mainly easterly. Weather fair, but dull at times. Seas smooth to moderate.
