PALMERSTON N., September 25. “In the light of the present case, any person adopting this method of warming gelignite will be guilty not only of gross ignorance, but of extreme negligence,” commented the 'Coroner at an inquest to-day, when returning a verdict that Nita Cowdrey, aged four, died on September 18 from a cerebral abscess, the result of an injury received through the explosion of gelignite, which wrecked a bouse at Halcombe on July 12, injuring seven, including the child.

Her father, Frank Cowdrey, gave evidence that he was warming 50 plugs (51b) of gelignite in an oven, in accordance with a practice he luid followed for some years, when the explosion occurred.
