Referees —Messrs A. E. Tall (Invercargill), J. Kilmartin (Dunedin), and E. J. Sceats l(Oamaru). Judges —Messrs W. E. Mouldey (Christchurch), R. W. Rugg (Auckland), T. Segar (Timaru), H. D. Johnston (Ashburton), R. Fulcher (Dunedin), and A. Fyfe (Invercargill).

Joe Louis (the American negro) knocked out Max Baer in the fourth round of a bout fought here. FOORD DEFEATS VILLAR. (Received This Day, 9.25 a.m.) LONDON, September 24. Ben Foord (South Africa) easily beat Pancho Villar, who retired at the end of the fourth round with an injured hand, after heavy punishment. Foord will next meet a New Zealander, Maurice Strickland.
