LINCOLN COLLEGE

IMPORTANT STAFF CHANGES.

TWO PROFESSORS PROPOSED.

(Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, September 23.

Important staff changes were decided on by the Board of Governors of the Canterbury Agricultural College at a special meeting to-day. These include the termination of the appointment of Professor R. E. Alexander, as Director, as from December 31, 1935, and the appointment of two professors of agriculture. The board met in committee and the following statement was subsequently released:

“That in order to continue the proper balance between the plant husbandry and animal husbandry departments, the board has decided to appoint two professors of agriculture, and that to facilitate this arrangement the engagement of the director should be terminated.

“That Mr J. W. Calder be appointed acting-head 1 of the plant husbandry and agricultural botany department at an increased salary, Mr Calder to have an assistant-temporary lecturer, who will receive a salary of £3OO. Mr Calder and his assistant will begin their duties on January 1, 1930.

“Applications for the two professorships in agriculture will be called early in 1936. One of the professors will be appointed director.” Another decision was to set up a committee to define the necessary conditions concerning the appointments and report to the board.
