ST. JAMES THEATRE. “David Copperfield,” the sensational hit picture will be shown again at the St. James Theatre to-night and to-mor-row night. It is the picture which introduces to the screen little Freddie Bartholomew, the ten-year-old boy who is hailed the greatest screen “find” since Jackie Coogan rocketed to fame with Charlie Chaplin in “The Kid.’’ Freddie plays the juvenile “David.” It is an adaption of a novel which has entertained millions, and was c a lied by its author, Charles Dickens, “my favourite child.” Sixty-five stars and featured players are in the unprecedented cast. Among the stars are W. C. Fields, Lionel Barrymore, Madge Evans and Maureen O’Sullivan.

REPERTORY SOCIETY PLAYS. The Ashburton. Repertory Society, which is now in its fourth year, lias more than justified its existence, not only by developing the acting ability of its members but also by encouraging and bringing out latent abilities as playwrights among its members. Two years ago the Society produced “Mr Pratt’s Solution,” by.J. Halket Millar. To-morrow . night, in the Majestic Theatre, along with three other oneact plays, the Society will produce “The Substitute,” by L. A. Charles, another member of the Society. The play was a. prize-winner in the British Drama League’s competition held last year. The Society is urging patrons to be seated early, because of complaints regarding late comers.
