ELECTRIC POWER
BULK SUPPLY CHARGES. CONFERENCE OF BOARDS. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, September 13. The Power Beards’ Conference discussed the report of a special committee set up to inquire into the position of the Public Works Department and investigate the possibility of obtaining a reduction in charges for the bulk supply of electricity. Mr P. ,T. O’Shea, for the municipal supply authorities, moved amendments to the scale of charges. The amendments were heavily defeated. It was decided to send a deputation with all the recommendations of the conference to the Prime Minister, the Minister for Finance, and the Minister for Public Works. The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr J. A. Nash, M.P (Manawatu - Oroua); executive, Messrs G. A. Monk (Horowhenua), F. Purnell (Wanganui - Rangitikei), S. J. Harbutt (Auckland), W. Hinchey (Southland), A. C. Pearce (Wairarapa), G. Dash (South Canterbury), A. C. Russell (Central Hawke’s Bay), E. F. Nicoll (Ashburton), J. T. Johnson (Te Awamutu), A. E. Russell (Otago), S. Blackley (Hutt Valley), M. Cable (representing North Island supply authorities), E. Hitchcock (South Island supply authorities), H. F. Toogood (Engineers’ Association), and K. W. Eglinton (secretaries’ committee); secretary - treasurer and legal adviser, Mr F. M. Martin (Wellington); auditors, Messrs Clark, Menzies, Griffin and Ross. The conference then closed.
